If you have been following me for a long time, you know I have a thing for sneakers! My favourite brand is Gucci because they look good and they are comfortable, they never disappoint me. One thing about Gucci sneakers though is that there are not many styles to choose from because to be fair, they are not a sneaker brand, they are a fashion brand. So that’s why I have done a blog post today about my second favourite sneaker brand – Golden Goose Deluxe Brand (GGDB)!
Right now, I have 3 pairs from GGDB and I love all of them. Yes, the price is not cheap but I do get my wear out of them all the time, which makes the cost per wear very low! They are very comfortable to wear, and many of them are done with a vintage touch, so you don’t need to baby them and you won’t have any phobia wearing them. Also, there are a lot of different colour combinations to choose from, there are plain ones and there are over the top ones, and I am sure you can find something you love out of the vast collection.
Many of you have asked me about their sizes. I would say they are large to size but I always buy my normal size because don’t forget that your feet will expand after walking and the key to buying sneakers is comfort. But if you really want, they can go for 1 size down if you really enjoy the snug feeling.
In Hong Kong GGDB counters/ shops, the average price of a normal pair of sneakers (I am talking about the plain ones, the nothing fancy ones) runs within the range of HK$4,xxx per pair. Do I think it’s worth the price? Yes I do, because they are really durable. They might start falling apart after 2-3 years if you wear them everyday (based on Shop Manager’s experience). But would I pay that price? No! Simply because I have seen them being cheaper online. Why would I pay for the same thing at a higher price, right? It doesn’t make sense to me.
Since GGDB offers a lot of options and sometimes I think it could be quite confusing to new joiners (welcome to the GGDB family), I have done some browsing and research for you. I have chosen the ones that I think not only they look good, but they do come with a friendlier price tag. I love how simple this pair is – black + white + grey, if you are into mono tones like I do, I think you would really enjoy this! I thought of getting this pair myself but the colour combination is so similar to my Dior One Sneakers, so I am not going to repeat myself. But I love it personally because it’s so timeless.

You know I love orange as a colour right? I love the combination of this pair because it’s different yet it’s still subtle. If you like a bit extra without going all out, the touch of orange and silver glitter on the back might be your cup of tea! Man – I love it because I really enjoy that pop of colour.

This pair is like a combination of the first 2 pairs. You get mono tone, but you also get the silver glitter at the back. I guess this is for someone who just wants to keep things really simple.

One pattern that I really like is snake-effect. I know, you might think it’s old school and grandma, but I think with the right colour, print and amount, it would really up your outfit. Like this pair, there is snake-print effect but it’s only confined to the star and the bit at the back, the whole look is still very minimalistic but it certainly gives a more sophisticated vibe!

I can’t assume everyone likes white sneakers (though many of us do), so let’s go to the other side – the non-white ones! I love the combination of this navy pair with the pop of yellow at the back and the pale pink laces. The colour coordination is spot-on!

I don’t know about you, but I do like a metallic finish from time to time since most of my outfit are very minimal-looking. I don’t have a metallic pair of GGDB yet but I do have some Nicholas Kirkwood metallic loafers. I find the colour so versatile because it basically goes with everything! It’s a no brainer!

OMG, here comes another category that I love for GGDB – the glitter family. I need to give a big shout out to this category because their glitter is so well done! The glitter doesn’t come off the sneakers! Yay!! I don’t like leaving a glittered trail when I walk so I really have to applause on their good quality. Yes they are a bit more on the over the top side, but I love them for a boring day!

If you would like to try out glitter sneakers but you don’t want a multitude of colours, silver is a very safe option. As much as it glows, it’s still keeping the colour scheme very simple.

Anyone recognises this pair? If you follow me on Instagram (@iamhakme), I think you have seen me wearing this pair for million times (is that an exaggeration?)! No, I didn’t get them at HK$4,xxx. I got mine at around HK$2,3xx last November. If you like them, I suggest you save this in your basket and watch if it would go on sale or follow me on Facebook because I usually post any good deals I find there. This pair is still glittered but due to its darker colour, it doesn’t scream that much and I love that it’s different than other sneakers in my collection.

I think this pair is in between the silver pair and mine, it’s in between “glow-y” and “subtle”. I also love how sharp the blue star is, otherwise it would blend in too much with the greyish glitter.

GGDB also comes in high-top! LOL – I have to show this pair! First, the discount is really amazing! Second, there are not many sizes left. Third, it reminds me of The Avengers, like Wonder Woman, Captain America etc.! My god, that colour combination is really sharp and almost comical, but I love it!

If you are not a fan of The Avengers’ colour combo, I think this might be a better option for you. It still comes in high-top but it’s of a darker colour base with a multitude of glitter.

Have I told you I don’t own any high-top GGDB? And ladies and gentlemen, that’s about to change! Hurray!! I placed an order for this particular pair! The price is great for high-top and also did you notice the details? Ah yes! Snake-print! Bingo!! It has a bit of yellow and purple going on there and I find it quite pleasing to the eyes! Can’t wait to receive them and report back on what I think later!

How can I skip any leopard fans? Well, leopard pattern is another favourite of mine but with leopard, you really need to be very careful of how much you are injecting into your outfit, because I don’t think any of us would want to look like we are from another era, right? In my humble opinion, shoes are a great option to give that leopard touch without actually turning yourself looking like a wildlife. I find this leopard print just right, with the combination of the white details, we can say that we are not from the jungle, ah NO!

One last pair! If you think a small touch of snake-print is not enough (like me), this is for you my dear! And me too! Yea you heard me right! I recently placed an order for this pair because I LOVE snake-print! Remember that Puma Snake-Print sneakers I got? I have enjoyed the look of that but honestly they are not as comfortable as GGDB, so when I saw this pair, I decided to upgrade! And I also love the pop of colour at the back!
