(MY THOUGHTS)
(Skin Beauty Enhancer)!
(TEXTURE & BLENDABILITY)

(SPF & LONGEVITY)
(THE VERDICT)

【ENGLISH VERSION】CLÉ DE PEAU BEAUTÉ SKIN BEAUTY ENHANCER REVIEW: IS THE HYPED GLOW ACTUALLY VISIBLE?
When it comes to luxury primers, Clé de Peau Beauté (CPB) has long held holy grail status. After six years, they finally introduced their latest creation—the Skin Beauty Enhancer.
Claiming a 5-in-1 formula featuring multi-dimensional prismatic glow, 8-hour wear, SPF25 protection, and skincare benefits infused with Le Sérum extract to enhance translucency over two weeks, expectations were sky-high. Today, I am putting skincare claims aside and evaluating this strictly as what it is sold to be: a makeup primer.
Under the bright department store counter spotlights, it looked dazzling. But how does it hold up in real life under ordinary everyday lighting? Here is my straightforward breakdown.
TEXTURE & BLENDABILITY: A FULL 100 POINTS
When it comes to the formula and texture, I easily give it a full 100 points.
It looks quite firm when squeezed out of the tube, but the moment you spread it, it glides effortlessly across the skin. A tiny amount spreads very far with incredible slip. Once blended, it absorbs rapidly, leaving the skin feeling like it has been treated with comfortable skincare without any tacky feeling.
After absorption, it wraps the skin in a breathable, featherlight veil. It doesn’t feel thick, suffocating, or greasy. Dry skin to oily skin types will all appreciate this elegant formula.
THE GLOW TEST: STORE SPOTLIGHTS VS. REAL-LIFE LIGHTING
Because this primer is heavily marketed on its radiance, I put its glow factor through a rigorous test.
When I first swatched it at the counter, tilting my hand under the overhead spotlights revealed a dense scatter of micro-shimmers that created a stunning 360-degree beam of light.
However, once I got home and tested it under normal ambient light, that dense brilliance disappeared—leaving behind only a sparse, subtle shimmer.
To test how it looks on a regular day for everyday people, I did a split-face test:
- One side of my face: Cle de Peau Beaute Skin Beauty Enhancer (with micro-shimmer).
- The other side of my face: My regular Anessa sunscreen (completely shimmer-free, but with a natural dewy lotion finish).
Under standard indoor room lighting, as I tilted my face back and forth, I could not see any difference in glow between the two sides. Under front-facing studio spotlights there might be a subtle difference, but under normal office lights, daylight, or home lighting, the naked eye can barely tell them apart.
I then applied Decorte foundation (a soft matte formula) all over, which muted about 70% of the primer’s glow, followed by a light dusting of setting powder. By that point, only about 20% of the initial glow remained.
Throughout the day, I went on a mission looking for this supposed glow—checking mirrors under outdoor sunlight, under various MTR subway lights, and under shopping mall elevator lights. I still couldn’t detect any difference between the two sides. Once layered beneath regular foundation and powder, the promised diamond-like luminosity simply failed to show through.
SPF & LONGEVITY: AREAS OF CONCERN
Beyond the vanishing radiance under makeup, there are two practical issues you should keep in mind:
- Low SPF25 Protection: With strong sun exposure, SPF25 is somewhat awkward. Sunscreen factors do not stack (SPF25 + SPF25 does not equal SPF50), meaning you will likely still need a dedicated sunscreen underneath, adding another unnecessary step to your morning routine.
- Debatable 8-Hour Wear: Despite claims of resisting sebum and creasing for eight hours, my drier skin type—testing this on a mild, less humid autumn day—experienced visible oil breakthrough and makeup separating around the nose within four hours. If drier skin experiences lifting this quickly, oilier skin types will definitely want to proceed with caution.
CLÉ DE PEAU BEAUTÉ SKIN BEAUTY ENHANCER BREAKDOWN
| Feature | Rating | Hakme’s Verdict |
|---|---|---|
| Texture & Slip | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | Full 100 points! Glides effortlessly, non-greasy, lightweight, and spreads very far. |
| Everyday Glow Finish | ⭐ | Disappointing. Dazzling under counter spotlights, but invisible under normal lights once makeup is applied. |
| Sun Protection | ⭐⭐ | Only SPF25 PA+++, requiring an extra sunscreen layer for proper UV protection. |
| Longevity & Oil Control | ⭐ | Separated and produced shine on dry skin within 4 hours; falls short of the 8-hour claim. |
CONCLUSION: SHOULD YOU BUY IT?
Overall, I am not particularly impressed with this primer.
When paying a premium for this product, you are buying the promise of luminous prismatic radiance. But if you are a normal working professional living under ordinary everyday lighting, that diamond glow gets completely covered up by your foundation and powder. Combined with an underwhelming SPF rating and mediocre longevity on drier skin, this is an easy skip to save your money!
